A New way to get Battleground Marks!

Need battleground marks but don't have the time to get them? Well here's a new way to get them for half the time! Ok, lets say I need Eye of the Storm marks, what I'll do is sign up for a random battleground instead of first available. This way I don't have to come into a battleground and stay the whole duration. You might even come into a winning battleground! Z and I have figured out that you can come into a winning battleground a lot more often in the afternoon than the morning so thats a good time to do this :). Don't forget the number you signed up for, if you get called for a different number that means the one you signed up for has ended. If this happens it will automatically sign you up for another battleground (the same type battleground you signed up for), but there is a big chance it will be a battleground that has not even started yet or has just started. I have been called to half started ones even though it was not the battleground number I signed up for, really its your choice whether to go in or not :). Remember, this strategy is only good at getting battleground marks, its really bad for getting honor. I hope you like this, it has worked very well for other guild members, they have complimented a lot, thank you :). Good luck!

Instancing, and another call for PvE progression

Nearing the end of The Burning Crusade, I feel that I've failed in my primary duty of organizing guild "stuff". I'm unsure how to sort out this chicken-and-egg syndrome of not enjoying PvE due to no guild runs and masochistically running non-stop PvP to get the gear.

To combat this, I will be taking a much more proactive interest in the PvE progress of one of Shadowmoon's oldest guilds: Monkey Shines.

I've been avoiding "running a guild" as I burnt myself out on doing it in previous guilds. I feel that I have come up with a casual way to run a casual guild. My plan includes 2 days out of the week to run an instance; be it a regular, heroic, or raid. As we all know (or should, by now), a properly formed group will have a Tank, Healer, Crowd control, Ranged DPS, and Melee DPS. Most of us have more than one character at, or near, 70.

I would ask all of you to choose a main character and primary alt. This is not to restrict anyone. My biggest issue I had to deal with in any of the guilds I ran was the 'issue' of alts. If we establish a set of characters up-front, there will be no communication problems on expectations of our guild mates.

The next major issue to deal with is to determine who will play the selfless roles of tank/healer. As I look over the roster nearly everyone that is playing a class that can do either of those roles is currently spec'd out for solo-play. Again, no fault of anyone but leadership's. If you'd be willing to try out tank/healer; let me know. I will be more than willing to pick up the slack in the other department.

Initially we will need at least one more tank OR healer to begin current 5 man content, I'll pick up the other role. Eventually, I would like to see 2 tanks and 2 healers, with some hybrids that can switch mid-fight.

All of this will prepare our guild to get in the mindset of group questing/instancing/raiding for the incoming new content. I want to avoid 100% solo game play, and be able to provide a foot in the door of instances in the upcoming months.

Step 1: Tell me if you care about this, and give me feedback.
Step 2: Pick a Main and a role you are interested in.

Deadmines :)

DeadminesGood fun!

We had a great instance run last night :)

This was essentially an all alts run, with one exception.  Here's the roster:

  • Testudo (Beraan in the pic:  warrior)
  • Jannas (Dennee:  mage)
  • Imagunaetchu (new member:  druid)
  • Wart (Hunten:  hunter)
  • Myself (playing Aberrant:  Priest)

There were no deaths, a few good drops and most importantly, a lot learned by all of us (especially for me, as a first-time healer).  I've got to get better at using heal over time and lesser heals so that I don't generate as much threat, but I'm all shadow so far, so I don't have any threat reduction talents.  I'm still torn on whether or not I should go holy sooner than when I reach the end game.

Fun!

Crazy Epic Drops for Tueur

dual wieldOk, so the night started out with me wanting to push to 44 on my warrior, Tueur. I had a ton of quests to do in Gadgetzan, 1/2 a level to go and some fresh gear from my previous run in Zul Farak with Cristia, Testudo and Zorlocky.

As Egaenil and I ran around doing some of the world quests, I leveled and unlocked a few more quests in ZF, so he kindly offered to take me through again. After the first run, I managed to get Sang'thraze the Deflector, and once we saw that, we reset the instance and went after Jang'thraze the Protector, which miraculously dropped on our first try! I can't use them both until I hit 45, which should be some time Thursday, but I think I'll re-spec to Fury to try out some dual wielding fun. :D

Monkey Shines starts Raiding!

I've heard some mumblings about raiding. I'd like to propose that we act on it! Since the new content either requires attunements or gear that I don't quite have yet, I figure some of the stuff before the expansion may be the best place to cut our teeth.

Zul'Gurub (ZG) has always been a favorite of mine, and has a cap of 20 players. I know we don't have those numbers, but I feel 5-10 70s should be sufficient. Level 70 is not required, but 60 is; thanks Blizzard.

My goal is first to have fun. Second, there are a diverse number of fights that will help discipline us in the fields of targeting, aggro, and general strategies. Blizzard is known for revamping boss strategies, and a few in ZG echo through to the 'new' end-game stuff.

I figure we should go with:

  • 2 tanks
  • 2 healers
  • 4 dps
  • 2 crowd control

Of course, the more the merrier, but this should get us through pretty well. Also, some players will fall into more than one of these categories.

The dungeon isn't too important to me, so if you have other suggestions, please let me know! Also, let me know the best times for everyone so we can attempt to get as many in as possible. I'd like to devote at least 2 hours, but that is of course up to the mob!

If your interested, post a reply with weekend days and times you have available, and the toon you wish to take. I'll attempt to work out some sort of strategy for beating stuff up. Oh, and let me know if ZG is ok, or if you'd like to see some other sort of content.

Last word: remember, its not how much we kill that's important, its how we kill it that is!

Sunday Sept 16

This Sunday Morning (Sept 10), not sure on time yet, but Eternal Legion has invited all lvl 70 members of MonkeyShines for a fun event. For obvious reasons, I can not explain what this event pertains to, however if you are interest, either ask Testudo or myself in guild chat. Once you find out about this event, DO NOT POST ANYTHING ABOUT IT ON OUR SITE.

Happy Hunting !!

New druid mod

16 Slot bags!

With the help of you guys sending me cloth, I've been able to reach both level 50 and over 300 in tailoring!

I know, I know... the cloth didn't level me, but it sure lit the fire to get movin. Anyhow, this has allowed me to get to the point that I can craft 16 slot bags.

If you want one, I need:

24 Netherweave Cloth (or 4 bolts)
1 Rune thread (or 50s)

Happy Hunting!

Gotta catch'em all

For those that know how I play, this is second news. For those that don't, sorry in advance....

I think I've finally found out what I need to do in this game: level every class to max. Here is my rationale.

I'm a grass is greener player. I love pvp; and lately, its become an addiction. It seems that no matter which class I take into a BG or world pvp, I wish I had another race/class at (or above) the level I'm currently pvp'ing with.

Luckily for me, I've always leveled alts to build blue state on my mains. So, I've currently got:

70 pally, 70 druid, 49 mage, 45 lock, 43 shammy, 40 rogue, 35 warrior, 23 hunter, and some newb priest.

You'll probably see me bouncing between classes to run out their blue state. Hopefully this will sate my desire to have something different.

I don't know what to think of this, however. On one hand, it makes me think that there is not one class that is "perfect" for me; on the other it makes me feel like there is such a good balance between the classes.

Eh.... today is the warrior, tomorrow will probably be the warlock.
